Artist Statement 2026
My latest series, Heart Coherence, was inspired by humanity’s intrinsic desire for connection—with people, nature, and our inner spiritual landscape. The HeartMath Institute defines heart coherence as “a state of synchronized physical, mental, and emotional systems, achieved by aligning the heart, brain, and emotions.” Coherence is achieved through slow breathing while focusing on the heart area with thoughts of positive emotions like compassion or gratitude.
Through my art and poetry, I hope to facilitate a sacred transformation, inviting viewers to explore healing, inner truth, and our fundamental interconnectedness. As we recognize our interconnection with the cosmic dance of life—people, nature, and our inner spiritual landscape—we bridge the inner landscape with the natural world and create space for reflection and contemplation.
I paint to free my spirit and to allow me to say in paint what I could not fully express with words. With color I can be bold, bright, playful, mysterious, tender, as well as tell a story, expressing the unusual, the curious, or the suprising nature of a thing. I hope these paintings might connect others to their own journey, finding common ground in the human experience.
