In summer, I rest under the sun, enticed by the open road.
I look at the calendar before me and see empty space. There is nothing written, noted, scheduled. One week. Something I have not seen for over three months. I feel tired in body, relief for the space ahead, joy in all that has been worked towards in these past weeks, months. It is an open road, if only a short one, but I will take it. Space to be, to reflect, to rest, inviting curiosity for what will unfold.
“Map out your future, but do it in pencil. The road ahead is as long as you make it. Make it worth the trip.”
Jon Bon Jovi
“I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I intended to be.”
Douglas Adams
“The road is there. It will always be there. You just have to decide when to take it.”

Jan,
Thanks for sharing this momentâthe open week! I can hope to see those coming ahead for me, as well.
Also, I was glad to see Sigurd Olsonâs Listening Point on your reading list. That bookâs message has become an icon for me, ever since I read it decades ago. Each of us can find that listening point, that place from which we can see, hear, and feel the living world active and unfolding around us. The place need not be exotic or remote; it can be simple and close at hand. But it requires the patience to listen.
Love,
Frank

Thank you, Frank, for your thoughtful comment. I had thought of going camping this week but even that felt like too much. My home, in quiet, no rush, no deadlines, is perfect. Yes, simple. Always good to hear from you.❤️
Pastor Amelia spoke about Sabbath at Common Ground yesterday. It is so important. Enjoy and appreciate your extended Sabbath. Love Joe
Thank you, Joe. I love the words ‘extended Sabbath’. It lends beauty to these days and a reminder as busyness wants to intrude. ❤️
