An Ocean of Love

A pod of porpoises swims along,
carefree in ocean's embrace, to
jump, dive, and frolic as they go,
alive in play in this their home.

Sanderlings cluster as sentinels,
to watch and guard with dignity,
then dash forward as waves ebb,
run back to shore at surfs flow.
My heart lies somewhere between:

to no longer stand at life’s edge
with heartfelt doubt and loss of ease,
yet free to live in an ocean of love
that beckons me to dive, and fears ebb.
