Upon Return

When I return to my home from a trip of even two weeks, I feel like I am re-entering a relationship that needs my time and attention. A warm hug and attentive listening with time spent in mutual interest. I then breathe in warm content.

I reconnect with home
through daily chores:
laundry,
food,
mail.
The mundane grounds me
to enjoy:
connection,
peace,
creativity.
Sparks of light and love
shine within each task.

  1. Thanks Janis, I’m reminded of a book by Jack Kornfield that I read many years ago, something about ‘after the laundry’. Anyway I resonate with the joys of travel but then the return to home, a safe sanctuary.

    1. Yes, Twyla! After the Ecstasy, The Laundry. A great book I especially resonated with after returning from El Camino. Bringing what was found into the everyday life lived. Thanks for reminding me. ❤️
